The William Allen White Reading Program
The William Allen White Children's Book Awards, established and directed by Emporia State University, was founded in 1952 to honor the memory of one of Kansas' most distinguished citizens. The reading program, which is for third through eighth graders, encourages the students of Kansas to read and enjoy good books. To vote for their favorite 3rd-8th nominee in April, students must have read at least 2 of either the Grade 3-5 Books or the Grade 6-8 Books. Students may vote for their favorite from one or both lists. Books may also be read to the student. Set a goal and start reading! These books also count for Accelerated Reader!
